How To Be Alive and Present

“Stop waiting for Friday, for summer, for someone to fall in love
with you, for life. Happiness is achieved when you stop
waiting for it and make the most of the moment
you are in now.”

Being completely and sincerely present is often we forget to do in our everyday life. We are living our day to day lives but we are not alive and present. We always dwell in our past and focused on what the future holds. How about the present? Are you alive or just living?

I've realized this a few days ago. Now, I chose to be alive and be present as much as I can.

Learning from the past and working for the future sure is an important action we have to focus on. However, there is a present. This is called present, because it's a gift. Be thankful and grateful for today, appreciate what's in front of you and embrace the moment and the people who love and support you. Here's how you can do that.

Take a breath and slow down

I believe this is the most important part of being present. At least take three deep breaths and you’ll see an instant difference in your mood. If you want a little bit more deep breaths, try the 3 seconds rule, it will take you to calmness.

Avoid rushing, it will only cause you stress and anxiety, and those two are ugly. So try to plan and prepare ahead, it will make you feel more at ease and free to do all the things that you need to do.

Unplug and converse

When was the last time you had a heart-to-heart talk with someone you love; family, friends, or someone special. Embrace the moment especially when you are with someone, unplug and focus on them. I know a lot of people’s pet-peeve is when they are with someone and that someone is constantly on their phone. In fact, it is one of mine as well.

Minimize your work

You can’t check off 18 to-do-list in one day. Break out your to-do-list and work on things one at a time. This will make your day a lot smoother and less stressful. Did you know that if you focus on one task or chore, you will feel more calm and your work will be more satisfying? Now you know.

Have fun

Don’t take life too seriously. Have fun every now and then, treat yourself. But make sure that you are being grateful in every good little things in your life. Always find magic in every thing, even in smallest things like how beautiful the sky is.

I have just found this travel vlogger, Jacob Laukaitis. I don't watch much travel vlogs because I often feel intimidated. I accept that I can't do everything in this world, and that includes insane travelling. However, what I like about Jacob Laukaitis is he shows us that you must be alive and present at all times, and constantly embracing the moment.

  1. This is a great post. I agree about unplugging and just enjoying conversation with people around you. To many people post on Instagram about their holiday when you really should just enjoy it. I have been traveling myself lately and I am enjoying it slightly unplugged. I hope your having an amazing week :) http://www.bauchlefashion.com/2018/07/spotlight-on-coachs-new-look.html

  7. This is so true! How often are we 'here', but really, we're not present AT ALL?? It seriously pains me to see people sitting together at meals who are just sitting on their phones. Being present with another person is so powerful and we've got to maintain that!
Thank you for the wonderful reminder!
